Wish I Had An Angel history:
When Nemo, the first extract from Once, the band’s fifth album, came out in may 2004, Nightwish and Nuclear Blast had already been planning to release a second single to promote Once and it was 90% sure that it would be Wish I Had an Angel. And as soon as the end of May, Nightwish announced that they were going to Germany to shoot the video for the song! However, we eventually learnt that Wish I Had an Angel was definitely chosen to be released as a single (in September 2004) in July, when the piece of information was to be found on the Nuclear Blast Shop (Nightwish’s record company in Europe) and on Spinefarm Records (Nightwish’s record company in Finland)’s release list. Wish I Had An Angel was also heard in the movie "Alone In The Dark", featuring Christian Slater and Tara Reid, among others. The film eventually hit the screens in fall 2004 in a total indifference! Yet, it did not prevent Wish I Had an Angel from enjoying a strong promotion thanks to the band’s success, with, for instance, 3 different versions by Nuclear Blast (a regular CD-single, a DVD-single and a vinyl), a video that was heavily broadcast, and a gigantic tour (Nightwish ended every concert from this tour with this song, by the way!). Nuclear Blast even called Wish I Had An Angel: "Die Single Zur Tour!" (Translation: "the tour’s single »)
I wish I had an angel • For one moment of love
I wish I had your angel tonight
