2010

2010 probably was one of the calmest years in the history of the band. After two years on the road, Nightwish took a well-deserved rest. Their schedule was planned already: they would meet for their traditional "Summer Camp" to rehearse the new songs, and then meet again in the studios in the fall 2010 to start the recording. The album was then planned on being released on the last trimester of 2011!

All the members had their own projects: Anette continued writing on her blog and letting her fans know about her news. She was indeed expecting a new child and insisted on the fact that it would not have bad consequences on her work with Nightwish.

Tuomas wrote a song for the Finnish singer Johanna Kurkela and produced Indica's English album.

Encouraged by the fans, Anette got on to Michael Nyman again and asked for his permission to use their cover of "The Heart Asks Pleasure First", which had already been recorded and mixed. Surprisingly, he finally accepted ! Therefore, the song which had first been planned for « Dark Passion Play » will eventually be released soon – what is still a mystery is the format the band will use for it.
